Complete Guide on How to prepare Infosys Service Agreement

The Service Agreement is an integral part of your Document Checklist for Infosys Mysore. It defines every vital parameter related to our Job and as such this document must be prepared  accurately and correctly. Some common questions that arise when preparing a Service Agreement are - How to format and print the service Agreement? Should we use stamp paper or legal sheets? What signatures do we need?
Through this post we'll get answer to all these questions and will prepare our Service Agreement correctly.

Guidelines For Preparing Service Agreement

1. The 1st step is to convert the .pdf file into word (.doc or .docx) file. It is advisable to change the size of the word document to A4 size.

2 (a). As it is being instructed to make a stamp paper of Rs. 200, so it will be fine if you make two stamp papers of Rs.100 each. Two stamp papers because you have to break the 1st page of the Service Agreement into two parts as the stamps will cover around 5inches of space in the paper. Then print the 1st page in those stamp papers.

NOTE - The cost of the stamp papers should be minimum of Rs. 200, you can also use more than that.

2 (b). Then the next four pages of the Service Agreement can be printed in normal A4 size papers or green-colored A6 size papers (legal sheets) as they are used for legal purposes.

2 (c). The alternative method is to get the whole Service Agreement printed in A6 legal sheets (or A4 sheets) and the get the Legal sheets stamped (franked) with the stamp duty of Rs. 200.

3. And the most important thing is, in every page at the end you have to leave the space for signatures of COMPANY, ENGINEER and SURETY (and that is mandatory). So while dividing the 1st page into two parts in the stamp papers be sure to copy-paste the signatures (otherwise you have to purchase the stamp papers once again).

4. One thing if by some means you are unable to copy the company signature then not to worry, they would sign it on the date of joining at Mysore. But do not forget to leave spaces for it mentioning signatures.

5. Next is the notarization part, for which you don’t have to take a headache now. You can easily get it notarized on your date of joining.

2. Employee no.- Leave it blank,  Year: FY -  Leave it blank if you're confused about the Year, it can always be entered later.

3. a. Signature on all the pages from surety and trainee is mandatory, even though the contents are spilled to next page.

b. Three Witness Signatures is required. Witness can be as follows

  • The first witness should be from HRD. Get it signed on your Date of Joining.
  • The second witness can be your Family member / Blood relative.
  • The third witness has to necessarily be friend or colleague.

OBJECTIVE TESTS :
-----------------

For objective part, we were given 2 hours or 2.30 hours[exactly I don’t remember], whatever time span might be, it was enough to complete the objective and that too we completed it comfortably, so don’t worry about that. Objective part comprised of  questions, based on 5 subjects –Java, RDBMS, OS, IWT and Software Engineering.  However one should keep in mind that for every wrong answer there is a negative marking of 0.25 too. The standard of objective questions was the same like your “Post Test”. (Apart from that, a sample question paper will also be uploaded after the completion of your course in that portal, so that one can refer it later).

Java: - Questions related to java were very simple, based on basics/fundamentals [very important, get your fundamentals clear]. Most of the questions were output related. Very few questions were theoretical.

RDBMS: - Questions asked in RDBMS section were of average standard. Most of the questions were based on queries. Some of the questions were based on output covering both queries and PL/SQL. It is highly essential that you should have clear knowledge about queries and proper syntax of pl/sql statements else you may get confuse .

OS: - Questions in this section were very easy. Some questions were direct and theoretical while others were numerical; yes you need to do some calculations. One should have clear knowledge about all concepts mentioned in the study material. Please don’t ignore any numerical, there is a high probability that you may face more numerical than simple and direct theoretical questions. Please solve ample problems related to process scheduling and page replacement algorithms as it is a very important section of  OS, you may get maximum questions from that.

IWT: - You will get simple and direct questions. There are few sections which you should take care of like network topologies, architecture, protocols, and load balancing. You should not face any problem in this section.

S.E-In this section you will get simple and direct questions. Please read thoroughly “software development life cycle”, various life cycles, quality. These are important topics of SE.

Now let’s move onto practical section:
First of all, we had to configure our systems as all systems are connected to LAN and we had to operate on servers. [Don’t worry, they will be instructing and guiding you throughout the process.]

Please note that, one has to code java programs using ECLIPSE and for RDBMS we have to use Oracle ( SQL plus). If one doesn’t have any idea about these, then please download and start using them as no other alternative will be given.

HANDS-ON/Practical ----------------------

It is quite interesting to know that this part is an open book meaning you will be provided with reference materials for in case u forgot syntax or faced any problem, you can refer it anytime. Time limit for “hands on” is 2 hours.

Java:- Again, question was very simple[Like we were given an interface and had to implement that interface in a class]. I would suggest you all, please read the question at least 2 times in order to understand the need of question because question will be very long and you may not get it in one go. All requirements will be given in the question itself, you just need to follow and code it. A class diagram would also be given stating what and how to implement. Believe me, it’s like skeleton is already being provided to you, you just need to give flesh (logic) in order to bring it in a proper shape. A simple tip I would like to give that try to break the question in to small parts/steps and code it in a sequence as per mentioned in the question satisfying the requirements. I think, you will find it easier this way.

In order to test your code whether it is OK or not, you will need a demo class or a class containing main method with/without values. This class will be given to you beforehand along with “files supplied”. One should be conscious about time factor as java programs will consume maximum of your time, so one should manage time efficiently. You need to submit error free and compiled code, it is a must. Please try to implement simple logic as far as possible; else you will get confuse by yourself only.

RDBMS: - Question related to RDBMS had 2 parts…
First part had 3 queries based questions. You have to make queries on table which may be pre-given (previously present on server) or you may have to create it by yourself as specified in the question. As in my case code to create the table was already been given in the question paper along with the data, we just had to “copy-paste” it (not a big deal). These query based question may be simple and direct/complex and tricky. So pay undivided attention to that while solving. If all goes well, it will take hardly 10 minutes to execute all three questions.

Then comes second part in which you have to code a pl/sql program. Like java, all requirements will be specified in question paper; you just need to code it. Be assured that pl/sql program will be easier as compared to sql or queries related questions.
After completing everything you will be asked to submit your java source code files and RDBMS source files .For RDBMS, you have to first write and execute commands, if it works fine then you just needs to copy and paste it in a text file, at the end you have to submit it.

Please keep it mind that you need to follow /adhere to all business conventions way of coding.
Few suggestions:

1) Please maintain a note while watching videos or studying material, it will help you in quick revision.
2) Please solve assignments of Java and RDBMS; it will help you a lot.
3) Please while watching videos pay your full attentions, as narrator may tell some points orally and you may miss it.
4) Please go through videos as well as study materials because some topics which are in videos are not covered in PDF and vice versa.

InfyLounge Guide | Webinar Set-Up

A Webinar is a completely new phenomenon for all of Us ( almost all of Us !) But still it's an integral part of the Infosys FPG Online Training Program. So since it's a whole new thing many of Us face problems during the first Webinar Set-Up. This post is intended to simplify the Webinar Set-Up process for you -

What is a Webinar ?

From what we understand from our experience Webinar is simply an Online Seminar, where tutors teach us topics through a slide shows by an Online screencast aided by audio conferencing.

Requirements for Webinar Set-Up
Here's a screenshot of OS and Browser specifications for Webinar -

Tips for Webinar Set-Up -
-> Use Firefox (latest version) and IE ( Preferably IE8 or IE9). You can use Google Chrome also but Chrome has been reported to vulnerable to technical glitches.

-> You must have a Java SE Plugin for your Browser / Active X plugin for IE. Firefox doesn't support Active X, but Java SE Plugin is enough for Firefox. If you haven't installed Java SE in your system Download Java SE
-> You needn't have a super fast Internet connection for Webinar, but your connection should have a minimum speed 56Kbps. (It worked for me without a broadband)

-> Once you Login for the Webinar, you'll need a WebEx Manager to  start or join an event, so you will need to download, install, and configure the WebEx Event Manager. The first time you join or start an event, the Event Manager will automatically be installed; however if it doesn't get installed automatically you download it here -

1.   For IE Windows

2.   For Firefox and Chrome Windows

->
You can ask your queries using both Voice ( use the Mic in your headphone) and chat window (as shown in the above screenshots).

If you have more Tips about Webinar share with Us through your comments. If you find these tips useful then do spread the word by sharing post links with your friends.

Infosys Online Training | Points To Remember

With the introduction of the new Pre-Joining Online Training  by Infosys, curiosity levels among Infy recruits has been high continuosly. Everybody is keen to know the procedure and process of the Online Training and it's implications on the in-campus training to be held at Infosys Mysore. Following are some of the key points about the Online Training Program

1. Your Online Training (OT) will start close to your old DOJ.

2. You will get 70 days + 11 extra days to complete the online training.

3. You need to have a stable and fast Internet connection (preferably Broadband or 3G)

4. You need Mozilla or Internet Explorer(Version 9 or previous). You will find some problem if you access the OT through Google Chrome. And you need the Flash Player pre installed in your machine to stream video.

5. You can use multiple systems to access the online training. There is no restriction on it as people are finding it tough to access training portal from one system.

6. The marks in pre-tests, post-test and quizzes are not linked with the comprehensive test that you will appear in Infosys Mysore. These are for self evaluation.

7. You can download the videos if you can. Though it's not officially recommended (Use IDM or any other good Video Downloading software )

8. If you find any problem with the OT portal, Call 1800 3000 4747 to route your query and ask for help.

9. You don't have to submit the assignments through doc or pdf or by any format to anyone. These are given for self practices.

10. OT is not mandatory. If you don't take the OT, you might miss a chance to clear the Comprehensive Test as the syllabus in OT and Comprehensive Test are linked.

11. The Comprehensive Test which you'll appear in Infy Mysore will comprise of concept based Objective type question and Hands on exam.

12. If you fail the Comprehensive Test, you will be put on to Intermediate Batch where you will again have to study all these.

13. To pass the hands on test, practice and practice. Only watching videos will not be helpful if you don't practice.
